Blast Furnaces
Tough reliability in high-heat, high-temperature metallurgical sites
The Challenges
Metallurgical operations, which involve collecting, refining, and processing metals from ores and other materials, are performed at high temperatures under harsh conditions. Adding to these challenges, most blast furnaces (smelters) used to make iron and other materials operate on a 24-hour non-stop schedule once they are fired up. The hoisting equipment used at these sites to transport metals smelted there and maintain in-plant equipment must be built for the highest durability, operability, and safety.
How KITO Meets the Challenge
The KITO product lineup includes equipment that has a proven track record of withstanding the harsh environment of blast furnaces, often providing equipment maintenance support at these facilities.
For example, electric chain hoists that can withstand high temperatures can be customized by installing flame-retardant cords and modifying the insulation, oil, and push buttons of the motors. Where explosive gas and vapor are present and fire must be avoided, we offer Explosion-Proof Type hoists and Air Powered Hoists developed using our own designs.
