Transportation and installation of long and super-heavy rails
In order for railways to be able to move passengers and freight to their destinations safely and precisely, maintenance of the rolling stock, rails, and all related facilities is carried out daily. This work must often be completed within a limited period of time, such as between the last late-night train and the first morning train, and must be accurate and reliable. Maintenance equipment malfunction could delay the work or prevent it entirely, hindering the scheduled operations for the next morning. For these reasons, any equipment used in the railway industry must be highly reliable.
How KITO Meets the Challenge
Heavier rails are less prone to warping, and they accommodate higher speed trains. Rails used for commercial railways in Japan are 25 or 50 meters long and weigh up to 60 kilograms per meter. A variety of KITO products, including cranes and chain hoists, are used to transport and install these very long and heavy materials safely and reliably.
KITO also provides custom designed equipment to meet the unique needs of a specific site or usage. For example, we can accommodate specific girder deflection specifications.
